Did you install isapnptools?

I've found a very little info on this card:
http://www.redhat.com/archives/sound.../msg00006.html

Thanks for your answer
!I finally found the documentation on usr/doc
I read there that i must use pnpdump > isapnp.conf : I did that and in that file (isapnp.conf) I saw my sound card opl3sax(wasn't there before)and it was only my sound card not another device. The next step says that I should uncomment the # to my sound card I/O , dma and IRQ so I did that too . But now they say to modify rc.modules (I think) so the kernel could load something related to my sound card (I believe isapnp was between them but I m not sure): I m an newbie and I don t know what to write there ) so if somebody could give me an advice i ll be grateful.

Thanks again!

P.S.I have isapnptools installed : I took them from the slackware site and then aplied installpkg to them.I had Red Hat installed too : I used sndconfig and my sound card were installed there, but it was an old edition (with an old kernel).

Slackware uses the file /etc/rc.d/rc.modules to handle manually loading kernel modules at boot-time. This can be done also in /etc/modules.conf (especially when aliases need to be used).

Make sure these are loaded first:

/sbin/modprobe soundcore
/sbin/modprobe sound

Then try putting a line similar to this in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules:

/sbin/modprobe opl3sa2 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 io=0x538 mss_io=0x530 mpu_io=0x330

This assumes that the kernel module is available. You can check that by having a look at the kernel configuration file in /boot/config-xxx
Just open with text editor and search for yamaha or scroll down about 1/3 to sound section.

Hope you get it working after such diligence....

Hi! I first installed some thing taken from www.slackware.com/pb called isapnptools.tgz
Then I wrote this: pnpdump > isapnp.conf in a xterm (I believe I had specified the full path to isapnp.conf which was a text file but I don't remember exactly). Then I wrote this lines in the /etc/rc.d/rc.modules :
/sbin/modprobe soundcore
/sbin/modprobe sound
/sbin/modprobe opl3sa2 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 io=0x538 mss_io=0x530 mpu_io=0x330
but I think it works without mss_io=0x530 mpu_io=0x330. It worked fine with xmms.
