(newbie question) Dual boot Amigo and WINXP
 

I have an IBM R31 laptop. I would like to dual boot AMIGO and WINXP. Is there any way to do that?

Yes.

Install XP first, preferably creating a partition for it as you go that doesn't take up the whole drive, then download and install Amigo into the other partition.

You can run liloconfig expert mode to setup lilo to boot from MBR or floppy.

So, if I now have Amigo on winxp, what would I have to do to boot amigo from lilo with no floppy?

Do you have it on a FAT partition?

Yes but it's the one with winXP installed on it (unzipped to my C:\)
not a separate partition.

Do you have a bootable slackware installation CD? If so, you can bnoot with that, then give the mount line:
mount /dev/hda1 rw
which should boot you into amigo. Then run liloconfig and choose 'expert' installation. Then do 'start a new header' and 'add a linux partition'. Here, when it lists them it won't show anything since you have no linux partitions. But, it will give you a chance to manually enter the location. Enter /dev/hda1. Then, choose'add a windows/DOS partition' and choose the same hda1.Then 'install lilo'. This will let you boot from the MBR.

I thought you had no floppy?
Soon-to-be-released Amigo-XP will make your situation a snap, even installs itself on your FAT or NTFS partition.
You can also run it from FLASH or USB HD. In fact, I've made it so that you can run both ways, with a hard-drive installation AND a mobile installation on USB -if you want to run from USB, just plug it in at boot-time and it will be found before the installation on the hard drive.
I did it this way supposing that someone might want to 'sync' the two installations.
