So, there it is folks! I've completely renewed the website and uploaded all new GPL software to the amigolinux.org/download area.
I've started with around 225 installable Slackware-type binary packages. There are even more stuff in Sources, since I've uploaded all my AmigoProject files also. Nearly all these programs will run without any GTK-2, Gnome, KDE or Python. They were all compiled under Slackware-10.2, but I believe nearly all of them will run under any Slackware version-10.0 or later. If you have anon-slackware system you can probaly run these too. They are compiled against glibc-2.3.4, mostly with gcc-3.3.5.
Just a few days ago I got around to opening my wife's 350MHz iMac which had crashed the hard disk some time ago. Popped a 1.2GB drive in there for testing and soon had Slackintosh-10.2 running. This gave me an excellent
chance to test the latest version of PkgBuild to see how 'portable' my build scripts are. They work! Only a couple will neeed any changes apparently.
So, I'll soon be adding pre-compiled powerpc packages compatible with Slackintosh-10.2 and other PowerPC-Linux systems. What's to prevent putting together a very light desktop for breathing life into these old
boxes?
I see where the Nintendo Game Cube runs linux. They have 40MB of RAM. My small systems are proven to run with only 16MB RAM. HMMM...
Any way, see the new HomePage at the same old spot on ibiblio:
