The taskbar is a separate program which you can run under any window manager. I'm still mostly working on configuration tweaks using windowmaker -now I even have it so it won't show DOCKAPPS!
The main Amigo-XP login and 'desktop' uses WDM, WindowMaker, the taskbar and the ROX-Filer pinboard. The desktop menu(right-click in background) is thru WindowMaker. And there is ROX-Menu for a menu of the AppDirs installed.
I'm still trying different taskbar/panel apps. I found another I like better, except it has no menu -the main reason I wanted it(at first). I'm working on combining a menu with it.
I have altered and compiled this one(above) also so that it doesn't say 'Start' -if anyone doesn't like it.
My current work on the NEXT release involves first getting together a base-GUI system very similar to what you see in the screenshots -but using ONLY GTK-1.2/Xlibs.
This will probably be the 'base' installation for a 'modular' installation -like what I'm doing with KDE or the /usr/local dir that are available as options for Amigo-XP. All you have to do is unzip a single file into the /disks folder of amigoxp before configuring. The extra programs are 'in there' when you run.
I've been working on the idea for a long time -to put together a pure gtk desktop that isn't integrated, just cohesive. Only GTK can offer so many programs -but I'm having to dig WAY back to find these programs. In fact some of these are from the roots of the first GNOME and before GTK+2 ever existed. I've backported stuff from GTK+2 to GTK+-1.2, from gnome to gtk -I've tracked down code that was written for, or ported to HPUX(unix) and back-back-ported it! Looking very nice, though!
