Volume group data missing

I am having a major problem. I am running AIX 4.3.3 and I have lost access to the filesystems in a volume group.

When I run df -k I get I/O errors for the filesystems within the volume group.

When I run lsvg -l datavg I get the following error message:

root@gbscrib:/> lsvg -l datavg
0516-034 : Unable to access volume group device. Execute
redefinevg to build correct environment.

The volume group appears to be there and ok and the filesystems seem to be mounted ok.

root@gbscrib:/> lsvg -o

I tried the redefinevg and it hasn't helped.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this one?

I/O errors seem to mean that you have hardware poblems (like one cable missing).
If it's not the case, you should try to import the volume group again :
varyoffvg datavg
importvg -L datavg hdiskXXX
