Dear Sirs

I have an IBM 7043/140 machine with powerpc 604e 332 mhz processor and AIX 4.2 installed on it and I want to upgrade my machine to newest computer that is pssible I dont want to change my operating system because I have many applications that just could work in AIX 4.2.

I dont believe there are any updates to AIX 4.2 or earlier available.

I would recommend doing an alt_disk_install. This may still be supported back to AIX 4.2. From a current AIX installation CD you woul load the alt_disk_install fileset specifically for AIX 4.2. This can then clone your system to a new disk, and then update that to AIX 5.3 via migration.

You have two bootable disks - your current system, and a 'test' migrated system that you can boot to - and shutdown if the migration is not what you intend/need.
