Hi,

After using shutodown command shutdown -F and shutdown -F now ,my server is getting restarted,

shutdown -F is a command to reboot the system.

try shutdown -h is actual command to shutdown the system..

shutdown -F is Fast shutdown.
It bypasses the messages to users to have the quickest shutdown.
shutdown -Fr will restart the machine after a Fast shutdown.

hi,

if you would like to to poweroff after shutdown. Issue the cmd poweroff as root. This shutdowns the system , then also poweroff for you. I have known this to work in both fedora & ubuntu machines.Its likely to supported by other distributions as well.
