I con't getr RMP's to install ither. I ger an error telling me that it is not a valid rpm. I am using

rpm -i file name

i have also tried

rpm --install file name

zorba4 10-12-2004 01:52 PM

Problem during ftp ?
Download the files again, and install again.
Remember,
.bff files are installed using "smit install".
.rpm files are installed using rpm.

By the way, on which AIX are you trying to install ?

agallant 10-12-2004 02:14 PM

I am using AIX 5.2 i have tried downloading the files several times. any other ideas? well i am downloading them to a windows box then moving them to the AIX box.

Mark Taylor 10-14-2004 06:05 AM

make sure you transfer them as binary and not ascii ..

Mark Taylor 10-14-2004 06:09 AM

also, install wget 1st, then grab the files using wget .. loads easier ... you can set up a proxy server with wget if you need one etc... so you can grab then files straight from the AIX box.. no windows interaction at all.

IMHO that is :)
