I wouldn't call this the opposite of Samba. The Samba software has two components; client and server. This is equivalent to Samba client. Whether IBM has Samba on AIX or if they put a different implementation of CIFS/SMB on AIX isn't a big deal. IBM invented SMB. So what? Your revelation is a real nonstarter.

Samba server allows a Windows system to use AIX data.
Symetrically, CIFS client allows a AIX server to use the data on a NTFS Windows machine.

Till last month I did not know how to do that : my best solution was installing NFS on the Windows machine, which is not always possible.

Of course, I know this, almost everything on this forum already exists in AIX or Linux manuals. And I guess you already know that the samba client does not allow mounting NTFS files on AIX.
