Making VSAM file from a flat file in AIX

Hi

How to convert a flat file into a VSAM file in AIX ?

I want to port the VSAM files from Mainframe to AIX. For this, first I will convert the VSAM files into flat files through IDCAMS in Mainframe. Then I will ftp the flat file from Mainframe to AIX. After ftping into AIX, now I want to know how to convert the flat file into a VSAM file.

Please help.

One software, SMARTdata UTILITIES, is installed in AIX box which has facilities to create VSAM files through C program. I am not able to understand this software for VSAM files processing. If someone knows about this package, please help.

Basically I need to transfer the VSAM files from Mainframe to AIX.

Thanks

Not a great idea postiong twice on the same subject.
I would suggest that you carefully read the documentation of your cobol compiler. It probably has a chapter explaining how to import cobol files from a mainframe, it's a basic work for cobol people.

You need something like Unibol.
