kill idle users
Hi, I'm using AIX 5 and we have many users accesing by internet but the problem is that they use an emulator named anita wich disconnects in the client but somehow it doesn't in the server, i want to make a script to kill all user idle for more than half an hour, but i'm more a linux user than AIX, any light about it will be welcome.

Update /etc/environment and add a line that reads:

That will time out the shell for an idle user after 30 minutes. That should help with the problem going forward. Killing current idle users will take some more research and testing.

Well, I'm afraid that didn't work out, I use who -u to list processes, then I kill -9 the processes that have been idle for more than an hour, will that be of any help?

You need to put the same entry into the file /etc/profile, not /etc/environment and your problem should get resolved.

Hey Xyrer, what level of AIX 5 are you using? I know I had the same problem with a Forms appliction we were running. We were running AIX 5.3 ML3 with the CSP. I contacted IBM support and they said it was a known problem and it would be fixed with the next TL. When I upgraded to TL4 with the CSP it went away.
