Install a .tar file

I'm trying to install a Toshiba eStudio350 printer/copier to our network. The hplj-4 driver allows me to print the documents but not correctly. By this I mean the printer does not know what tray to pull the paper from so it waits for user intervention. I downloaded an aix.tar file from the driver page of Toshiba and I do not know how to install it to aix as an available driver.

I would greatly appreaciate any assistance on the install.

To see what is inside a tarfile: tar -tvf tarfile.tar
To extract a tarfile: tar -xvf tarfile.tar
And, for completeness, to create a tar backup: tar -cvf /tmp/etc.tar etc

If you did what JurgyMan told you, whe type "tar tvf" you have seen the name of a file name "somethin.bff".
This means that the tarfile contains an installable file.
So, you have to do the following
cd /myirectory
tar xvf aix.tar
smitty install
choose "Install"
choose "." for the directory wher to get the files from.
type "F4" in order to see what can be installed
then F3 to go back
and type "ENTER" to accept the installation.
