increasing max file size

I have the following problem. I have oracle database running on AIX 4.x.x
One of my datafiles is > 1GB. When i try to move the file i get error. I can't upload files > 1GB trough ftp. Is it possible to increase the maximum filesize limit without destroing the data on that volume.

If I remember correctly it's a limit with the ftp program that ships with AIX. Try another ftp client like ncftp.

Ok. Don't listen to me.

I just tested this and I _was_ able to transfer 1.5G files to and from AIX 5.1 and AIX 4.3.3.

I remember some type of 1G limit while using ftp, but I just can't reproduce it.

@arokh : which login are you using when you perform ftp ?
Just make a test. Do telnet instead of rlogin as the same user (probably "oracle" user). Then type "ulimit". I'm sure that you will see that this limit is 2097151, which means 1 Giga.
Just try it. If I'm right, then you should consider changing the max file limit for your user. root has to do that for this user (smit users, etc...).

remember also to check that the destination filesystem is a "Large File enabled" and set the ulimit to the shell you are using.
