HP Printer "drivers" in AIX - advice on what to use?

The HP printer drivers in AIX function, but when you get say an HP 400 printer and you want to choose a driver in AIX in smit print, I am limited in choices. I've checked with HP and they only provide HPUX drivers. What if anything do other sysadmins do to deal with this? I just have to try the HP 4000 or 8000 driver and choose the one that works.

Not sure about locally attached but over TCP/IP using PCL I've had good luck with just using the 'printers.hpJetDirect.attach' and 'printers.hplj-8100' filesets. I don't believe a lot of print drives get installed by default so you might need to grab them from the install DVD or lpp_source.

Yea, that's what I've got. Nothing locally attached, but printers everywhere else. I just wanted to know how everyone else is doing it. I get annoyed when i get a new HP printer and have to fanagle the backend like this. I wish HP and IBM got along better or we bought IBM printers. 8)
