Help accessing NFS share on AIX from Windows XP or Server 2008
 

Hi all,

I am trying to access an NFS share set up on an AIX 5.2 box from Windows. I can either use my Windows 2008 server to connect to it and then connect the workstation to the server 2008 box, or directly map the XP workstation to it, whatever is most efficient.

I didn't set up the NFS sharing on the AIX server and don't know much about it, but I know my way around Unix fairly well and I built the 2008 server so I'm sure I can answer your questions to give you the necessary info in order to resolve this.

The directory on the AIX server I'm trying to access is /usershome/invoices

I have tried installing services for NFS on the server 2008 box to make it act as an NFS client, and I can input on the command line "net use * //servername/usershome" and it will say the command completed successfully and map the drive, but when I click it I get access is denied. I then went to the unix box and tried editing the NFS export to allow root access from the windows server but alas, no change. If I don't get "access is denied" I get "The data area passed to a system call is too small"

Asking a windoze question about proprietary UNIX on a Linux forum, hmm, appropriate user name though....

Thank you for your post ... is there a better place I should put this? I am asking here because I suspect the issue is with AIX, not with Windoze. Obviously the ultimate goal is to find an answer to the question. Everything I've found so far on Google/Windoze/M$ forums involves connections going the other direction (i.e. Windoze is acting as the NFS server; in this case it is acting as the client).

Thanks again and if you know of a better way to get the information I'm looking for, please enlighten me.
