from CRT to LCD monitor - help
I want to change my monitor on my aix workstation from my CRT to my 15" LCD and it always says "video mode not supported""
I assume there is some display type that I could change, but not sure - tried smit, no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. display adaptart is a GXT800P TIA, Boyd |
Do I need to provide more information - anyone have any thoughts?

It seems that your AIX drivers don't like your LCD display. You probably need to add some drivers or some ptf's in order to bring that stuff at work, unfortunately I cannot help you more thant that.

thx for the feedback. I tried googling for my graphics card and available drivers, no luck - seems like this has to be possible. 15in crt works with 1024x768 but 15" lcd does not.
Any other thoughts fellas - dont want to use that big crt, im confined to small space for this workstation/server - Thx again Boyd |

really bad luck : 89 helpful people did not know how to plug a LCD...
I am also very curious, cause I also would like to do this... |
Take a look at the HorizSync and VertRefresh settings in the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf. If these settings are outside what the lcd is capable of it won't show you anything. Change these two lines in xorg.conf to reflect the display's capabilities.

Does your /etc/X11/xorg.conf solution apply if I never boot into GUI. I always boot into command prompt.
Thanks, Boyd |
