Decompress .zip files on AIX system
Hi all members,

I have a problem with my AIX 5.1L server. My CD-ROM contains some files written in .zip file (I compressed them by winzip on windows system). Now, I want to decompress them on AIX system, but I have tried many times by using gunzip command, the results were failt.
I have enter some parameters like -f, -d, -S (suffix), but the results were the same.
Please help me to decompress .zip file on AIX system.

I am looking forward to hearing from all of you.

send me:

Best Regards,

decompress .zip files
hi there,

gunzip will not work... try to see if u have "unzip". u will find "unzip" on Solaris/Linux. i hope the same might be available in AIX.

unzip -l

will list the contents of the zip file. and "unzip" will extract the contents.

Please post your questions on the appropriate forum and there only. AIX stuff goes here:

Here's unzip for you:

Alternative place to get it (and other AIX software):

You'll find unzip and a lot of nice open source utilities in the IBM AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications:

it is always possible to try to compile tools for AIX, in case you cannot find a suitable binary on we have gunzip, for example.
