AIX 5.3 TL07 - Replace FC card on P1-C2 (fcs3) with scsi card

The scsi card is to add an IBM 2104 DU3 disk array. I need to know how to swap the cards.

I thought it was as simple as
1) rmdev -l fcs3
2) power off server
3) insert the scsi adapter "IBM PCI Dual Channel PCI-X Ultra320 SCSI Adapter 97P6513"
4) power on server
5) run cfgmgr

Not sure next steps but will work that when I get there

Problem is rmdev -l fcs3 gives me this message
Method error (/usr/lib/methods/ucfgcommo):
0514-029 Cannot perform the requested function because a
child device of the specified device is not in a
correct state.

That means that the adapter is active. Normally, that might mean that there is a device connected to it that is active or detected ready to be active. Do you have IBM support for your platform?

The extended support expired in Feb 2020. I need to deactivate it so I can add this other adapter.

Looks like its creating both a network interface and scsi adapter device on your Emulex card. Yes, you can try rmdev both of those first. If it won't let you and nothing's connected I'd power off, replace the card and remove any old device nodes after it comes back up. That way there won't be anything open or running.
