Thumbs up AIX 5.1 can not finish boot


Hi Everybody i have a IBM type 7025-F80 when i turn on i have this message on screen and AIX 5.1 can not boot

You seem to have problem with your SCSI disk (google for P1/Z2)

I try to reinstall and make migration to AIX 5.3 but ca not access to the menu to choose boot device

Hi there,

The device in location P1/Z2 looks like it might be an external SCSI adapter to me (but I could be wrong - old info...). If you're booting from an internal disk, but have external disks attached as well, I would try and disconnect the external disks to see if that helps.

Regarding the boot menu, what happens when you try and boot the device, where you expect to see the menu? Do you have a physical (serial) terminal attached? If so, and you see nothing, when the system beeps twice, try pressing 5 on your ASCII terminal.

I try many times to boot from cdrom using ascii terminal but not successful i have same message the system stop on 0637 P1/Z2 . when i check some information P1/Z2 shows that it is external SCSI adapter .that adapter is on motherboard i can not remove

ther is other way to reinstall or disable that external SCSI adapter?
