a question about mount erros

I have an Aix 5.3 p5 box. I need to to a b/u of the system . IBM has a routine (mkdvd) to do this. The problem is I can't get to cd0. I tried to do a
mount -r -v cdrfs /dev/cd0/cdrom and I get cdrom isn't a proper file system,
I've tried just mount /dev/cd0 and get an error
I've issued the IBM command and get an error 6 while mounting.
I tried a mksysb and got the device is not in the availble state or isn't a tape device ora vaild file name.

Any help is appreciated
thanks
Mace

thank you for the reply. when I go into ect/filsystems I can see the definition(/dev/cd0 on usr/cd0)
So for laughs I tried again to mount /dev/cd0 onto /usr/cd0 but got the msg:
mount 0506-324 cannot mount /dev/cd0 on /usr/cd0/ there is a request to a device or address that doesn't exsist.

Now I'm confused becasue if I do a lscfg I can see the device
I'm confused

thanks
