This sound device does not have any controls. (4M25.0 LiveCD)

Hi, could you help me please with the 4M25.0 LiveCD issue that sound is not working at all?
Sound issue is the same in x32 and x64 bit.

Versions 4M 'till v.24 worked normally.

In v.25.0 click in the bottom-right bar on speaker icon shows (instead of settings window) the big blank window only with no buttons no volumes no settings. Just big blank window.

Running from JWM menu shows the same.

Running from terminal by command alsamixer shows AlsaMixer v.1.1.5 window with:

CARD: PulseAudio
CHIP: PulseAudio
This sound device does not have any controls.

Can you help me fix it please? Without the sound is not really happy :-(.

Hi,

Nowadays Pulseaudio is a must if you want to have sound in Firefox, Skype ...
Are you using 4MLinux only as a LiveCD? Aren't you going to install it to a hard disk drive?

More info from the 4MLinux FAQ (http://4mlinux.com/faq.txt):
Code:
Q: Is it possible to disable PulseAudio in 4MLinux?
A: Set 'PULSE=no' in the /etc/pulse/pulse.cfg file and reboot.
Default Settings in 4MLinux: PULSE=yes. This means that PulseAudio handles sound volumes. You should use pavucontrol to adjust sound settings (Menu > Multimedia > Let's mix > pavucontrol)

Old Settings in 4MLinux: PULSE=no. This means that Alsa handles sound volumes. Unfortunately no sound in Firefox. You can try to use Chromium instead.

Hi.
Thank you for your help and I'm sorry but I don't understand some of your answers:
What does Firefox application has to do anything with the whole sound/audio in whole 4Mlinux system please?
After 4M25.0 LiveCD/LiveUSB system boot?
When net conections or Firefox are not even set/installed yet?

All what I'm reporting is sound/audio failure in 4M25.0 please.
I always used LiveCD's/LiveUSB's only, since 4MLinux version 7...
And that sound/audio was always working OK in previouse versions of 4MLinux LiveCD's/LiveUSB's.
On 3 different computers.

Before 4M25.0 durring beginning of boot report "... installing addons ..." - the speakers LED always turned into green color,
and after all massages "... installing addons ..." was done - the speakers made "short noice" a LED stays green, and sound/audio always work.

NOW in new 4M25.0 durring beginning of boot report "... installing addons ..." - the speakers LED also turn into green,
but after all massages "... installing addons ..." are done - the speakers made "short noice" a LED turn into RED color, and sound/audio doesn't work.
In whole 4MLinus system.

Now i new 4M25.0:
When I try run/play movie - it showes GNOME MPV error: "Playback was terminated abnormally. Reason: audio output initialization failed."
When I try set audio by speaker icon in bottom-right bar (as always worked in previouse versions of 4M) - now in 25.0 showes big blank window only.
When I try set audio by Menu > Settings > Devices > Sound mixer (as always worked in previouse versions of 4M) - now in 25.0 showes big blank window only.
When I try set audio by Menu > Multimedia > Let's mix > AlsaMixer (as always worked in previouse versions of 4M) - now in 25.0 showes "This sound device does not have any controls."

As you have recomended now I also used:
Did set audio by Menu > Multimedia > Let's mix > pavucontrol - but it showes windows with "No output device available" and blank all tabs in window only.
Did set 'PULSE=no' in the /etc/pulse/pulse.cfg file ... and reboot ...
Did set 'PULSE=no' in the /etc/pulse/pulse.cfg file ... and reboot ...
Did set 'PULSE=no' in the /etc/pulse/pulse.cfg file ... and reboot ...
... and it repeat on and on again.

I have no idea what kind of audio card is in my pc please. All I know it worked in previouse versions of 4Mlinux, and sound/audio works in Windows and in other LiveCD/USB Linux distributions.
So as a pc dummie or lama it seems to me there was an audio drivers change in 4MLinux distribution?

Can you help me to solve this issue please?
I really like 4Mlinux, 'cos I gave it also to my grandpa & uncles long time ago and they all happy with it.
Than you.

Rebooting Live CD/USB does not make sense at all. You can try to open your terminal and execute the "udev" command.

PS.
I will try to solve the problem reported by you in 4MLinux 25.1, which will be released in a week.

Hi, Skype does not support 32-bit machines anymore for some time now. Old news.
The webversion does supports sound, I have to say. Compliments from my sister in New Zealand,
sound quality is superb!

Skype for web was one of the main reasons for adding Chromium and PulseAudio to 4MLinux.
