The 4MLinux 47 series.
This thread is for tracking the development of the 4MLinux 47 series.
4MLinux 47.0 Core BETA released.
This is a core system (only about 16 MB in size) for the 4MLinux 47 series. The system includes: the Linux kernel 6.6.47, GNU C Library 2.40, and BusyBox 1.36.1. The 4MLinux 47 series uses GNU Compiler Collection 14.2.1 to compile programs designed for the x86_64 architecture.
Despite its extremely small size, 4MLinux Core supports both BIOS and UEFI boot modes.

TheSSS 47.0 released.
TheSSS (The Smallest Server Suite) is a lightweight server suite distributed as a live CD. It is designed for system administrators who need an extremely tiny and fast set of server software. The supported servers are: FSP, FTP/SFTP, HTTP/HTTPS, NBD, NFS, NTP, rlogin, SSH, Telnet, and TFTP. A proxy server (Polipo) with Tor anonymizer is also included. The main security components are 4MLinux Firewall (based on iptables) and Clam AntiVirus. TheSSS iso images are fully compatible with UNetbootin, which can be used to create an easy-to-use TheSSS Live USB.
The latest version 47.0 is based on the 4MLinux Server 47.0.
You can update your TheSSS 46.0 by executing the "zk update" command (fully automatic process).

4MLinux 47.0 STABLE released.
The status of the 4MLinux 47.0 series has been changed to STABLE. Edit your documents with LibreOffice 24.8 and GNOME Office (AbiWord 3.0.5, GIMP 2.10.38, Gnumeric 1.12.57), surf the Internet with Firefox 133.0 and Chrome 131.0, send emails via Thunderbird 128.5, enjoy your music collection with Audacious 4.4.2, watch your favorite videos with VLC 3.0.21 and SMPlayer 24.5.0, play games powered by Mesa 24.1.5 and Wine 9.21. You can also setup a very lightweight HTTP/FTP server (based on BusyBox 1.36.1). Perl 5.38.2, Python 2.7.18, Python 3.12.5, and Ruby 3.3.4 are also available.
As always, the new major release has some new features. Gnome CD Master (GUI frontend for cdrdao), Dia (program for drawing diagrams), GLiv (OpenGL image viewer), XRoar (Dragon and Tandy 8-bit computer emulator) as well as many command line MOD/MIDI players are now available out of the box. Gnubik (famous puzzle game) and GNU Backgammon have been added to the 4MLinux GamePack package (downloadable extension). Support for hundreds of old image formats is now provided by RECOIL (Retro Computer Image Library with its GIMP plugin). And finally, it is now possible to install 4MLinux on virtual KVM block devices (/dev/vda1, /dev/vda2, and so on).
