sftp via PCManFm - not supported error

In my 4MLinux 30 VirtualBox session, I can go into PCManFm and enter 'sftp://ipaddr_of_remote_computer'. I am then prompted for the username and password of the remote computer, and the connection is made to the remote computer.

In 4MLinux 34, when I enter the same command into PCManFm, I get a message saying 'operation not supported'.

Similarly, if I select (from the PCManFM menu bar) Go->Connect to server, once I fill that out, I get the same 'operation not supported' message.

I monkeyed around trying to use sftp from the command line, and had no luck with that either.

I am not an expert at file transfer protocols, so any direction would be appeciated. Thanks.

Hi,

I have no problem to connect. I checked both 4MLinux and 4MServer and I could not reproduce the error described by you. I was also able to connect when 4MLinux was running in Virtual Box (I used VB version 6.1.12)

Maybe there is a problem with your VB setup ?

.

Couldn't find anything obvious. Other than the display type, the settings in both VirtualBox sessions are the same.

I was, however, able to make the connection after installing FileZilla, so I'm in good shape. Thanks.
