How to use this without keyboard or mouse?

Hi
I was looking for a lightweight distro to create some rescue tools and came across 4MLinux and 4MRecover

However, after trying to run "live" on several different PCs (boxes and notebooks) I had to conclude that keyboards and mouses (hardwired in all cases) do not work with it.

Is there a workaround?

well you need at least a keyboard, maybe set it up to open a virtual keyboard in your live OS, but you still are going to need an input to click them keys. hummm....

Sorry, I was being mischievous. The situation is that the program (distro) does not respond to the keyboard, whether wired or wireless. I have tried it on a number of PC & notebooks. The cursor's flashing but there's no one home to respond.

Chasing around the 'net I see there are others with ethe same problem.

NB; this is no longer urgent. I used the Boot Repair Disk and installed ClamAV into its Live version. It did what I needed.

Cheers

Hi,

I can only guess what FrizzledOldButt is talking about. However, the 4MLinux 24.0 STABLE is going to be released at the beginning of March. Its hardware-related changelog is follows:

1) added support for digital cameras (via libgphoto2, gtkam, and gimp plugin),
2) added support for tablets (via kernel and xorg drivers),
3) added support for pppoe (via kernel drivers and pppd)
4) improved support for UVC webcams (via v4l-utils and guvcview),
5) improved support for mice and joysticks (more drivers available out of the box).

PS.
4MRecover is an extremely minimalistic system. It has no window manager at all. Xorg starts qphotorec directly (with mouse support enabled).

.
