4M Linux 15.0 Bug Reports

From the Menu - Lock/Quit brings up a Terminal window - Changing password for root. That's both the live CD and installed version.

4MLinux asks you to setup root's password. Therefore it displays the message "Setup root's password and try again" and it opens your terminal with the "passwd" command running in it. This is because you must enter root's password to unlock the screen in 4MLinux.

Option 1:
- you want to lock the screen (password-protected),
- there is no password yet,
- 4MLinux asks you to setup a password.
It's not a bug, but quite logical behaviour.

Option 2:
- you want to lock the screen (password-protected),
- there is a password already,
- 4MLinux asks you to setup a password.
This would be a bug.

One is running the Live CD.
One wants to 'Quit'
One selects Quit.
It asks you to set root's password.
Makes no sense.

I understand now. One can Quit from the locked screen, but only after root's password is set.
Until one understands the unusual behavior of only being able to Quit after Locking the screen, it is confusing.
(I know one can drop to a CLI and shutdown)

It's is a good example that 4MLinux does many things in its own way.

This solution protects your computer very well:
- an intruder cannot unlock the screen without knowing your password,
- if he tries CTR+ALT+BACKSPACE, 4MLinux will shut down your computer.

The above also means that one can lock the screen and press CTR+ALT+BAKSPACE to quit (shut down) 4MLinux.

Anyway, this was not a bug ;-)

Yes, 4M is quirky. Way better than plain vanilla.
