Text Editor of the Year
Always an interesting poll.

You didn't include gvim, which is definitely my favorite editor, so I voted for vim.

From the list, Geany. Not exactly light, but a lot lighter than the big IDE's. A good syntax highlighting text editor. For the cli, nano. You don't have to remember a bunch of key combos to use it. Leafpad works ok but is too light. I saw where emacs can do syntax highlighting.

From the list, Acme. Just like every year since it was included. :)
Awesome allround tool. |
Leafpad.

Visual Studio Code should be here, not in "IDE of the year".
|
Geany/nano. Can't really make one choice here.
I can use it if I must, but I've never gotten into vi(m). |

Text Editor of the Year
Text Editor of the Year for a GUI editor, and VIM for a CI

continue using THE (The Hessling Editor), can't live without

Doing so would have further split the votes, if not already by specifying separate categories for vi and vim! I think there should be only one general package name, to avoid splitting votes between the same general package/application. Sort of like how Ubuntu (Red Hat, and all the other SystemD derivatives) themselves with the objective for winning the popularity contest. |

cli vs gui
When I think of a text editor, I think of operating in terminal (mode). If I am operating in a gui, I think of something in the gui line. Hence, this year, thinking cli, I choose my default goto nano.
