I don't like all of the depends of the heavy IDE's. So I vote geany. A lot of people like visual studio.

Geany.

I use occasionally pycharm (python), arduino ide (c, c++), android studio (java) but mainly I use gvim (shell).

ondoho 01-04-2022 10:35 AM

I don't understand how something like Seamonkey's Composer can be in the same list as, say, Android Studio.
Developing what is the question, I guess.
Anyhow, since I do all my "development" on geany, I vote for it (again).

Turbocapitalist 01-04-2022 10:37 AM

As mentioned in other years and other posts, GNU/Linux is itself an IDE when used properly. That missing from the list, I picked Geany because it helps out beginners without getting too much in the way and thus prevents various dependencies.

gedit/nano/gcc/gdb.

IDE of the Year

Visual Studio Code does everything the other can do and even be run as a web application in the form of OpenVSCode Server

Chatpin 01-05-2022 01:54 AM

I've only ever used Vim-nox with support for Python.

rogerxx 01-05-2022 11:54 PM

Funny as hell.

vim is not listed. However Emacs is listed.

Somebody wants a lot of hate Email!

Missing VSCodium, voted Atom as a replacement.

Though: Atom was(is?) better as regards the ´Find input field´: Did(does?) not preserve annoying unused/uncompleted items in its history, and remembered(remembers?) the history between sessions.

I liked Atom as very sufficient but since it seemed to be fading out some year(s) ago I switched to VSC, and later, when it appeared, VSCodium. Unfortunately, both lack an intelligent ´Find input field´ management.

Is Atom still maintained? OK. Seems to be!

BlueGriffon. Very smooth & easy-to-use...

Code and Emacs and my terminal with vim are what I use to program in Python, Javascript, and a few other program languages.

I like several, and also used to like RHIDE (similar to Borland Turbo) but it won't run on much anymore.
