I don't know anything new in this category. I vote for claws mail. Email should be text and links, not whole web pages.

Which is why I think that Alpine is probably a safe choice this year.

why now browser

I really do think that any modern browser would be doing a better job than any of the options here, so if there was such an option, I'd pick that.

You talk about Web-clients, not Mail-clients. This thread is about Mail-clients.

Not necessarily, if you are one of those people who unironically use webmail.

That depends very much on what the email provider erm, provides for a web ui.
I prefer to have more control, and less data mining, hence dedicated software.

I also think that you haven't really used any modern email client in depth.

Webmail is Web. What you have as a software must comply to the rules of the Web and must understand HTML. As a plus, it can master HTTP. More Web there cannot be.

Your browser does not care what you put into a http-package, it can be bananas or mail. Unfortunately people misunderstand the Web today because some nitwit had invented request parameters and CGI. It is still not mail.

When you come to have a lot of mails per day, really nothing can beat the ease of use of mutt (neomutt). I can't do things as fast and as easy as in mutt in any webmail.

For sure, it needs some work to have it tailored to your needs but it's so fast and clear !
