Welcome to the 2020 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Awards
Welcome to the 2020 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Awards. The categories have been chosen, the nominees have been posted and I'm happy to announce that the polls are now open. To vote, visit https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ce-awards-131/ and select your entry in each category. If you have any suggestions for additions or modifications to poll nominees, please post in the thread for the poll in question. Any general suggestions should be posted in this thread.
A couple comments:
* We do realize that some polls have nominees that are not directly comparable. There are over 40 polls. If we got down to the granularity some members would like to see, there would be 100's if not 1000's of polls. That would be a net decline in the usefulness of the awards IMHO. We try to strike the best balance we can, and do modify the polls and nominees every year, based on feedback. If you have any suggestions on how the polls can be improved, do let us know.
* There are no set in stone guidelines for voting. Our recommendation is to base your vote on which application you found most valuable to you in 2020, along with which project you feel made the largest improvements in 2020. That being said, in the end the criteria is up to you.
* Posting a comment is optional, but do be aware that for your vote to count you have to select an option and click the "Vote Now" button (regardless of whether you have left a comment or not).
* You must have at least one post to be able to vote.
* All polls will close on February 17th at 12PM LQST.
* Results are not available until after the polls close.
Congratulations to all nominees and good luck!

Hi, Jeremy,
Thanx for doing this. It's prolly too late for this year, but maybe next year use rank choice voting, where, instead of voting for one option, we rank our options (e.g., for best d.e.: ranked #1 - Plasma KDE, ranked 2nd - Cinnamon, ranked 3rd - Gnome DE, ranked 4th - MATE). Opavote does have a application, but, given that it's run by a patent attorney, I suspect it is not open source.

How is it there are podcasts on the list that haven’t been in production for quite some time, or aren’t even Linux podcasts, especially when there are others actively being produced....*♂️

Excited to vote again this year but in regards to the podcasts can we please add:
Linux User Space & Big Daddy Linux
Also Bad Voltage maybe needs to be reviewed as it's not "really" a dedicated Linux podcast.
Cheers

That said, both of those were added to the nominees previously.

I don't visit LQ that often, but when I do it's almost always to check the polls, mainly to get the pulse of what other experienced Linux folks are using these days for different tasks. Super valuable.

I would love to add Distrohoppers' Digest to the list, but as two of us are on the mintCast team, that would siphon votes away. Also, there are currently plans to start a mintCast Gamers podcast...
