Window Manager of the Year

I'd like to see the rest of the basic ones for Slackware, like Blackbox, FVWM2, but lately I feel like voting for the most basic one, anyway.

Another 'cwm' user here, not on the list, but I think that makes three of us from the comments so far.

It's ideal for keyboard jockeys like me.

Being rather old fashioned, I still boot up to the console and start Xwindow with the command 'startx'.

I do the same thing - I like seeing the cli, plus I believe all display managers run as root, which could possibly be a security risk in some way.

Actually I just determined that my window manager is xfwm4, for xfce. Sorry if I mislead you. I simply modified the /etc file that selects the Xwindow manager so there is no auto start. Don't remember now which file that is. It's been a long time. I still work from a console sometimes.

i don't consider it oldfashioned tbh. just less eyecandy, more K.I.S.S.

and what windowmanager do you use? Xorg does not include one.

I was looking for a very lightweight WM for a special use so I ran cwm on a different virtual console to give it a try.

Wow! Right now, I have to exert effort figuring out and remembering keystrokes, but it's clear that a regular user would zip around without even thinking how. I'm not ready to switch, but I'm going to keep it running for a while to play with it.

This guy has a nice .cwmrc, here. It's what I based mine on.
