Solaris was what evolved from SunOS, a commercial merger of BSD, System V and Xenix. They moved to the System V codebase with SunOS 5, renamed Solaris 2.

Bill Joy, the original BSD developer, was one of the early Sun employees though.

I've always wanted to vote for AutoKey, a desktop automation tool, but haven't seen a category it would fit in.

I would like to see an office suite category.
So far the only ones I am aware of are StarOffice (LibreOffice, OpenOffice, ...), Calligra, GNOME's office suite, and siag.

There is also softmaker.de and possibly abiword...

There's also SoftMakers FreeOffice (which is amazing for the price, and now can save in MS xml formats not just open), WPS Office (Kingsoft) which used to be good, but the latest version has left me highly uninpressed, and OnlyOffice Desktop Editors, which if working with MS Office, and mostly simple files, have the best compatibility of any office suite I've ever seen, but they do lack many of the advanced capabilities of the larger suite (libreoffice, softwmaker, etc).

We removed it a few years ago as it was consistently one of the least competitive categories.

Looks like this year no E-mail was sent out about voting on any category. I just found out now from the MX Linux forum about it.
