Why? It's easy for me to use. I imagine emacs, vim, etc are quite powerful, but being as I grew up in the Age of the Desktop Environment, they just aren't intuitive to me.

+1 for Geany as well. A decent editor with syntax highlighting, plus all the good IDE stuff.
