Secure Messaging Application of the Year
This is a new category this year.

One thing about these annual polls, it always stimulates me to research the programs I have never heard of.

I voted for Signal but hardly use it now.
You need to add Riot/Matrix to the secure messaging platform options. |
XMPP + OMEMO
|
For those who are researching Wickr (if you haven't heard of or used it) the App is currently broken right now for Android.
It still got my vote because it works quite well when it did work. Hopefully they fix it soon. |

WIRE, every time.
Wouldn't use Telegram if you paid me; it's lethal, and is inherently insecure. Mike. ;) |

that doesn't bode well. and it's not a question of simply enabling javascript for their site. |

What are you using? I assume it's Firefox, yes? I'm a very long-term Chrome/Chromium user.....since Autumn 2008, in fact, when the very first stable release came out. I run multiple Chromium 'clones', but almost never use Firefox, or any other Mozilla-based browser for that matter. I grew disenchanted with it, due to its habit of regularly crashing at the slightest provocation.....and with Chrome, I've had no reason to look back since. I've never had any trouble with accessing the site. Mike. ;) |
Mike_Walsh, my previous post contains a link explaining what ABE does.
what i'm talking about is not browser specififc, it's addon specific. it's not a crash or a bug, it's a feature of noscript. if you do not know noscript, i can only pity you, because it means you probably also don't know about the constant security problem javscript is. just for clarification, this is what the addon throws at me (attachment). however, i now found out that the reason for this is on my side. an over-zealous mal- and ad-site blocker (/etc/hosts) blocks wire.com. it has nothing to do with noscript or firefox. sorry, my bad. i have temporarily unblocked wire.com, but one should ask oneself if there isn't a reason for it being blocked in the first place. however, i can now see the website without even enabling javascript, which is a good sign. |
