Thunderbird, it just works, simple for email, used it for years and never had a reason to change.

Thunderbird, it works, and can read html email (as html) without a lot of hassle.

anticapitalista 01-03-2018 03:04 PM

claws-mail -light and reliable.
Out of X - alpine.

ChuangTzu 01-03-2018 05:03 PM

claws-mail, light, never let me down, very fast, great search and archive features, etc...

gilead 01-03-2018 07:15 PM

Thunderbird just keeps going - never had a problem with it

I'll vote for sylpheed, as this is what I use now. Very fast, all the good features, and great interface. Another favorite is seamonkey mail.

ondoho 01-04-2018 04:52 AM

seamonkey.

since i voted that for the browser, too.

it's like what thunderbird should've stuck with.
i am amazed how sluggish thunderbird is (*), and how light seamonkey mail is, with all the same features.

(*) if you have more than 1 mail account and a spinning hard drive, you will notice.

Thunderbird was uninstalled from all of my machines years ago because its GnuPG support ("Enigmail") is incredibly unreliable. On Linux and Unix, I usually use Emacs (here: Gnus) for that.

normanlinux 01-04-2018 03:14 PM

Won't let me vote for two :-( Voted claws this time.

I use kmail and claws mail. Tried sylpheed but it is unusable since all of my email accounts use imap and sylpheed filters don't work for that. So I installed claws, it immediately picked up the sylpheed configuration so all of my mailboxes were present and functioning. Pity they don't understand regular expressions properly for the filters which work fine otherwise.

(Hint: . means any character - to include an actual . it is escaped with backslash. Try that and claws unhelpfully escapes the backslash but it doesn't escape an unadorned period).

Claws

linustalman 01-04-2018 04:03 PM

Thunderbird - it just works.

cowlitzron 01-04-2018 04:47 PM

Thunderbird works well for me. I did use FossaMail in the past, but it has been discontinued in 2017. I would like to see FossaMail revived. FossaMail used the Goanna engine that is used by the PaleMoon browser.

_roman_ 01-04-2018 09:56 PM

It misses plain webmail.
i used evolution for many years, but it had problems and issues
back to plain webmail and that'S it
