Digital Audio Workstation of the Year

The Audio Authoring category has been narrowed in focus based on feedback. This year is DAW, but we're open to feedback moving forward.

I suppose Audacity isn't considered a DAW?

Oh well, Ardour is super too.

renoise is still in the game?
oh my.
i got it from a friend almost a decade ago (before even switching to linux), and was happy to see it works on linux too.
what little i did with it, it's very good. love the UI.

a little ot: there's also sunvox. it's very minimal (i think there's an android version too) but very usable. more like a toy though.

Someone mentioned Audacity in the thread. I like that option for audio editing as well. Milkytracker is nice for music composition too. I'm also experimenting with the APCStudio source code.

if MilkyTracker (MODule tracker that probably has a sampler, but not synthesizer, etc.) doesn't count then I'll say either (alphabetically, since don't have much experience with these) Buzztrax or Sunvox; please add some MOD (etc., XM, S3M, IT, etc.) trackers that are DAWs (I mean, the other two I mentioned have synthesizers, Buzz* being customizable/build-your-own, and is a sequencer) and not just MIDI sequencers... very one-sided list there, maybe (MIDI vs MOD.)
