Ubuntu gets my vote; I use Xubuntu on my desktop and the FSF's Trisquel Mini on my EeePC netbook.

Ubuntu because it's the only distro I have tried that supports Nvidia Optimus seamlessly out of the box.

It's also easy to install, stable and well supported. I have been trying a few rolling distros, but I work on my main machine and reliability is of paramount importance.

Oh, and I LOVE the decision to switch to Gnome shell, my favourite DE by far.

Bummer, KDE Neon is missing, I have it installed on 3 high end PC's and a notebook. Been using it for a couple years now.

I think Fedora satisfies my requirements very well. I used Ubuntu and Debian during 2017, Fedora seems to be a better one.

Hi, I'm developer of deepin, which is famous for its self-built Desktop Environment DDE, our users and I are curious about why deepin is not an option here since Deepin Desktop Environment is included in the "Desktop Environment" poll category?

Thanks

Not a difficult choice for me - Debian. 2017 was the year I moved to Linux and even though Ubuntu was my springboard for a few weeks, I ran Debian from April onwards and installed Stretch the day it came out.

Hi, WHAT exactly is "Deepin Desktop Environment" I have never heard of it. That does not mean anything but I try to keep up. I'd be curious to check it out as I am growing very disenchanted with KDE 5, thankfully I can still use KDE 4. KDE 5 simply sucks as I can't do things in it that I can do in KDE 4. DDE might be a good alternative to KDE 5. Tell us more and where we can experiment with it.

KDE Neon is a software repo. From their FAQ: "It uses the foundation of the latest Ubuntu LTS (16.04)".

We remove nominees that received 0 votes in the previous year, which is the case for Deepin. If there's sufficient interest it's always possible to be added again (be it this year or in a future year).

I was unaware of that. I wonder why System76 disables integrated graphics when they preload all of their PCs with Ubuntu.

I really enjoy reading all opinions and esp the *reasons* for people to use or hate software.
If my distribution would switch to Gnome, that would be a strong reason to look around for a better distro: one that sticks to Plasma/KDE. (where "better" obviously means that it fits *my* needs, and is not measurable better that whatever other DE). Better is very very subjective.
I chose a laptop with ATI/AMD video ([AMD/ATI] Venus XTX [Radeon HD 8890M / R9 M275X/M375X]), because I know of the truckloads of trouble that come with drivers for nVidia, and I never play games, or do any 3D rendering, so I do not need extreme video.
So far I had no problems whatsoever on openSUSE TumbleWeed

Antergos?

I wonder why is Antergos missing? If you even include very small projects like NyTuX, you should add Antergos as well.

Antergos has been added.
