after using i3 for a long time.. i recently switched to openbox...
DAMN.. this thing IS FAST, very noticably faster than i3... and usable..
you can very easily do pseudo tiling in it..

not sure about that, but i did notice that i3 is not one of the superlightweight & ultraminimalistic wms out there.
it just doesn't spend resources on eyecandy.

I'm writing from a bloated DE now. I like i3 more. And I am familiar with Openbox+dmenu+tint2. But if I had to create something minimal meant to be used by others I might use JWM.
