X Terminal Emulator of the Year

A newer category that has been very close in each of its first three years.

RoxTerm

I use urxvt mostly, but I really like roxterm.

ondoho 12-31-2015 04:47 AM

urxvt.
if i was forced to use a gui terminal emulator, it would probably be roxterm.

xfce4-terminal is missing, yet.

Edit: Actually not, it's just spelled out as "Terminal (Xfce)" - sorry.

I just voted for st. 24-bit colour support (which neovim takes advantage of), and apparently designed for tmux.

This one's a no-brainer for me. Ever since I have discovered terminator's tiling functionality I stopped looking any further.

Can rxvt-unicode (aka urxvt) be added?

It has been included from the beginning.

So it is...

Probably a wetware glitch! Thanks for the reply!

How many votes did **stjerm** get last year that it was taken out? For me it is still the best terminal, although a function to search the output text would be very welcome!

digigold 01-07-2016 04:50 AM

Roxterm + Tmux. If I couldn't use Tmux for some terrible reason, I might use Terminator.

average_user 01-07-2016 05:07 AM

I vote for xterm because of its dabbrev-expand feature and because it does one thing and does it well.

stjerm was taken out because it is unmaintained. They are searching for a maintainer for over a year now, in the meantime there was no commit at all to their repository.

Having said that, for me it is st and tmux all the way, a very lean and functional terminal emulator with the best multiplexer.
