Browser of the Year

Which browser do you prefer when browsing LQ?

That is a tuffy for this site. Dillo. Links2. Iceweasel. Google-Chrome. Qupzilla. All work on logging me in here and I use them all on this site. Picking a favorite? Iceweasel I guess.

Edit: Forgot to say I cruise here with UZBL also.

Like roky, I use several browsers, mainly iceweasel, but I do like the fact that dillo and links2 work at this site.

Since we have "Iceweasel" could you add Nightly?

i use iceweasel, even though for my system firefox is the default.
i think iceweasel is based on firefox esr?
not sure what else is different, besides the logo.

I've always just assumed licensing...

Despite hating to do it, had to vote for Chrome. Firefox/Iceweasel simply showing too much slowdown on all my systems nowadays with still not supporting (in release versions) multithreading. I've pretty much been forced to move to Chrome for an adequate experience.

jamison20000e 12-31-2015 09:38 AM

I have had to use Chrome for somethings too and feel like M$ forced me to using their OS, until I GNU better. So if companies ignore antimonopoly laws we can find\make alternatives...

I will vote Nightly if it is added?

Edit\add: I know it's for testing only but I use it most so... :hattip:

I just voted Firefox though I use the Nightly release on both my Debian Sid installs. I'm not sure whether Nightly qualifies as different in the same way Iceweasel does since all the code in Nightly is from Mozilla, it's just a Beta.

Long term, stable, testing? Not just difrent names. We do only vote Debian not Jessie, Sid, &c... so I kind of see why Iceweasel and Firefox but not Nightly? But Frefox whon't work for me anymore and if it falls like it's OS that should sux. Will wait and see, otherwise IW or FF?

I think both how many use which versions of each browser or distro or how many use which distro are both interesting but I actually feel here that Iceweasel ought to be included under the Firefox banner as much as I think it is a different beast. Though, I suppose, those interested could simply count themselves and that may or may not raise the whole Chrom[e|ium] being different argument.

I thought of bringing up Chromium then there's this:

If we got down to the granularity some members would like to see, there would be 100's if not 1000's of polls. That would be a net decline in the usefulness of the awards IMHO. We try to strike the best balance we can, and do modify the polls and nominees every year, based on feedback. If you have any suggestions on how the polls can be improved, do let us know. NOTE: We made more changes this year than any previous year, and feedback is welcome.

after considering it more tho FF and Nightly are both same tm\r\c\whatever so is chrome vs it's betas then I guess until I get off my lazy bASh and contribute to make free ones better I will have to go Iceweasel. Thanks. :)

SeaMonkey!
It has proven to be a more than adequate replacement for the late,
great Opera 12.16.
