rxvt or xterm, always, unless I use the default xfce-terminal in xfce...

Konsole! Works well for me. And it's been ported to Qt5, so the "of the year" label makes some sense.

GNU Screen a Terminal Emulator and More

I'm sorry, but I like GNU Screen. It's a multi-tool in the world of terminal emulators without being E-Macs, not saying E-Macs isn't great. GNU Screen allows me to keep the console feel while I use my PC for everyday activities.

I wanted to vote for both Konsole and Yakuake. Since Yakuake is only the drop-down container, it's Konsole that does the real work. But both are awesome. So I think Yakuake should almost not even be in the list.

Yep. That aside, still has value for those of us willing to look past the bundled default app. For example, I'd never heard of Pantheon before. Test drove it last night. Kind of nice and very lightweight. I'll stick with Roxterm though.
