A newer category that has been very close in each of its first two years.

I love the ability to split my terminal vertically or horizontally and/or group them and ungroup them to send them common commands.

Terminator http://gnometerminator.blogspot.co.n...roduction.html gives me all this and more.

MATE Terminal?

I love MATE Terminal, but don't see it listed. Any chance it can be added?

I should vote Konsole because it is a great terminal. But I have to admit I use urxvt in real life, so I'm voting for it.

xterm

xterm (built myself) for optimal UTF-8 support

I recently found MobaXterm for use under Windows, and it makes putty looks like a toddler.

I have to go with urxvt in Linux
Accessing from a m-soft environment, I tend to agree with Tux. MobaXterm us a better interface than putty.
(just disable x-forwarding for any servers not running X or you'll get written up in /var/log/secure...this I know for true....)
