Notepad != Notepad++ Latter is far superior IFF you must use M$.
You're going to shoot yourself (or some other poor sod) in the foot using Wordpad. Especially if you edit any ascii src, config, etc..
Notepad++ is really nice, free text editor if you're forced to use Winwoes. That said, were I in such a position and not wanting to battle Emacs on M$, I think I'd pony up for a Sublime license.
