If, this category is voted on in the 2016 awards, I would vote for gftp. I use ftp to make uploads to my web site. I abandoned the use of Konqueror after switched to the Ubuntu based JULinux. The newest JULinux uses MATE, the still supported JULinux 10 uses Xfce. Gftp does what I need and is much more lightweight than FileZilla.

I know that I could use Caja and Thunar for ftp, they both work well with the ftp protocol.
