Mobile Distribution of the Year

What distribution do you think is best suited for a mobile device?

Android again

ashwin_cse 12-17-2013 09:46 AM

Android is the obvious choice. Way ahead of other in terms of market share. So this category is not so useful as there isn't really competition here.

jaap.rj 12-17-2013 10:42 AM

Android with a lot of hope on Tizen!!

taurolyon 12-17-2013 10:57 AM

Android, obviously :P

Sailfish OS on Jolla is a very interesting new mobile os. On my Jolla is really shines.
It's open and not ceated as a platform for ads.

teresaejunior 12-19-2013 04:04 AM

Android, because my phone doesn't accept anything else :|

I use Android but i don't particularly like it, and i don't like its close integration with Google and i don't like Gmail which i have to have now.

I have high hopes for Ubuntu Touch and FirefoxOS. But as with FirefoxOS phones are available and Ubuntu not (AFAIK), my vote goes to them.

divyashree 12-24-2013 12:51 AM

You might have better luck inquiring on XDA developers.

PrinceCruise 12-27-2013 07:58 AM

I bought my first Android phone just couple of days ago, for me it is Android thus.

wayward4now 01-02-2014 08:01 PM

Android

Ubuntu Touch my fanny not.

vmsda 01-14-2014 05:34 PM

Android, unfortunately: looking more and more like a proprietary solution.
Inexplicably, Ubuntu dragging its feet on the tablet front.

savotije 01-15-2014 03:12 AM

Android, what else? :)

metalaarif 01-15-2014 03:31 AM

Obviously Android's gonna win but its more like Google's controlling everything and that's what bugs me.

Its Ubuntu Phone for me

CharlesRHead 01-15-2014 10:45 AM

Android

Android

rgbarnes 01-15-2014 10:56 AM

WebOS

HP quite way too soon. Th OS has great potential and has contributed features to some of the most advanced phones. Hopefully someone will revive this OS and compete with Android.

frtorres 01-15-2014 07:21 PM

spudgunner 01-16-2014 10:00 AM

j13ett5 02-02-2014 06:41 PM

$Sinisa 02-02-2014 07:41 PM

busman 02-03-2014 05:59 PM

Android

manwichmakesameal 02-03-2014 07:25 PM

Wow, I see a lot of votes for Android so far. No love for CyanogenMod? I know there are a couple so far, but I would think more people on here would be running CM. My vote is for GSIII with CM.

smeezekitty 02-03-2014 11:55 PM

Android because I have never used anything else

gotfw 02-04-2014 01:50 AM

+1

I was an early adopter of Android (1.x something) and way ahead of the curve when everyone else was still yoddling about iPhones and Blackberry's. Had high hopes for Android but then the Goog lost it's way and became evil. So I never upgraded. I doubt I'll ever get another "smart" phone, because with the Snowden disclosures, you'd have to be pretty dumb to use one.

I do think FirefoxOS shows much promise, however, and hence gets my vote as a true FOSS alternative to Android.

+1 on WebOS being prematurely killed before it's time. Palm developed a great OS and then blew it by coupling it with a lame device. HP doesn't know it's head from it's *** these days, has been struggling with extremely piss poor "leadership" & financial woes, so it's no wonder WebOS been lost in the shuffle.
