Hey Jeremy - It's perhaps a bit late for this year but you should keep terminology on your list for next year. Truly innovative terminal from Rastermanl, of e17 fame. A bit rough around the edges yet so I am still using Roxterm but definitely worth a look:

The Terminal of Xfce has a nice looking display. Works well for me.

On every system I run I use a combination of Guake and xterm. Guake for quick commands and xterm for anything I need to monitor

I always change the icon to old $>chool and rename it 'Kon Sole' plus add transparency to its force :jawa:

Konsole - Tied to KDE
 
My obvious choice: Konsole reason: kde is my desktop.

I think this happens to a lot of people with choices tied to the choosed desktop. No time to adventure on special X terminal emulator.
