It would be nice to see audacity on the list. I use it for recording and listening.

VLC from the start next year could win, no bells and whistles just music (unless that is what you listen to).

It does seem odd that VLC was excluded from the start. Whoever does this next year should be someone with at least a passing familiarity of the Major Apps. Whoever did it this year is clearly either not cut out for this type of assignment, or had a reason the exclude VLC...
