XBMC ! Best HTPC software ever! I have gotten so many positive feedback & comments for my HTPC setup with XBMC running on top of Slackware64!

I also have MythTV installed but havent had a chance to use it too much..

I've gotta vote for XBMC. I have it on 3 xboxes and my laptop.

Media Tomb! Works great on Linux - serves up Movies to the Sony Bravia sets just fine!

To be honest I haven't used any and didn't know much about it.
I'm sure gonna start trying each of them.
Sure I'm getting chance to learn so many things since I joined LQ

LQ is best.

MythTV is good stuff. And he's involved with one of my LUGs so... ;)

noah_vale 01-17-2012 07:19 AM

I voted for MythTV because it's what I have used. Having said that, I've also seen XBMC on a few occasions at friends' places and it seems to do it's thing quite nicely.

XBMC win handsdown for me

The best is Freevo, but it is missing in the list.

jeremy 02-01-2012 02:59 PM

Freevo has been added.

for me never happens to work (tried on a lot different machines always got buggy results and
i am not intended to spend time fixing this...)

regular distro with multimedia packages works better i think...

Slackermedia ?
There is another alternative - Slackermedia. I would vote for this if it were on the list. See
