All I had to do was back up my dictionary first, then do a: Code:
upgradepkg openoffice&libreoffice But for you, I would suggest you check out OxygenOffice (Which by the way, will be following the Libre fork instead of Oracle from here on out). Hope that helps :) . |

I tend to use more specialized/powerful software for many of my daily tasks (LaTeX as a word processor, Matlab instead of a basic spreadsheet, etc...) but if I want a basic office suite, it's hard to beat Google Docs. All (or most) of the functionality of an office suite plus the abilities of 'the cloud,' which allows me to live share projects and access my documents anywhere (any computer plus my Android phone which is a huge plus for me). |

Furthermore, LibreOffice is supported by FOSS giants such as Google and Red Hat. |
I don't understand all the fuss about OOo and it's forks, in my experience the whole shebang is old, bloated, slow, ugly, buggy and overrated in just about every single way.
Gnome office is the only FOSS solution even worth installing imho, and that is still p!ss poor compared to MS Office. I would truly love to see proper FOSS office and PIM software, but unfortunately it seems it comes in at around 50th place to FOSS devs, lagging way behind developing yet another blue shiny KDE plama-gizmotron to tell me whether its sunny or not through the window I can already see through. |
LibreOffice - I have not had much of a chance to use it yet, but early comparisons are already giving the nod to LibreOffice. Also, did a good job on the manual.

OOo sometimes beats M$ in terms of sluggishness and being heavy on resources, in those moments I just wish for a proper FOSS office product...*sigh

I use and voted OpenOffice but I don't like Oracle and will use LibreOffice when it becomes more fully developed.

LibreOffice gets the nod for the courage to tell Larry where to shove it. Encouragement! Yes!!
