Claws give you more bells and whistles that I don't really need so would typically vote Sylpheed but running Claws on the Debian boxes this past year so I guess it deserves the vote.
Once again because of far superior lightweight gtk based alternative to the default Gnome bundled bloat that is Evolution. I've been using Evolution because of the bundle factor and come to despise it much less than I used to and, indeed, could even go so far as to say that I've become accustomed to it enough that it no longer annoys the crap out of me. But if your need is primarily and email client on a gtk based box then Sylpheed or Claws are the way to go, as Evolution suffers from far too much influence by certain parties w/vested interest in Outlook/Exchange interoperability and hence leaves MUCH to be desired.
