I feel mc (Midnight Commander) deserves a great bump in 2009.
It was dormant for so long and it went back in development (came to life) just this 2009.

The people deserve great appreciation and support - they make a filemanager that is greatly (and undeserved) underestimated today:

The fastest, the most ergonomic and leas 3rd party dependent package on any system i saw ever:

Just enable "lynks like motion" in preferences and start flying trough FS tree :)

I would voted for konqueror otherwise, but it got mesmerized (?) to dolphin in KDE4 so I don't know any more which is which!

I miss it's tree view so much!

Krusader is a instead, has excellent disk usage tool, but just an't cutting it with it's default preferences IMHO?

So this Year i vote for the resurrected mc! Long live the 'oldies'!

darn can't vote . I use konq and mc all the time equally . should have been split CLI/GUI categories here.

I call it dolphin in disguise, But konq file manager is still in kde4 with the tree . Most of the right click in the tree is back(I say most because some is a bit broken:) ). I hate to get it listed in the menu classic(or new kicker) I have to always put a # to /usr/share/applications/kde4/Home.desktop
#NoDisplay=true :( I hate that they figure we all want dolphin .

Why is vifm missing?

I voted for konqueror, but I was expecting dolphin may beat all other file managers.

Voted for Dolphin.

My vote went for Krusader but I am also fond of Dolphin. Never have really liked Konqueror as a file manager.

I like the simplicity of PCManFM, and it's two-click access to graphically handling files as root (Tools > Open as root). The latest version rawks! I even use it instead of Thunar for now - Thunar is looking great though. My vote: PCManFM! Go PC! Yaaaaay! (dances, jumps, cheers, flips)

Nautilus is quite buggy, you may not notice it day to day, but the deeper you get into it, it is annoying

This would be a tough choice. I use several. I use Dolphin, Konqueror, and Thunar. Once in while I use Midnight Commander. Thunar for speed, Dolphin because of previewing and Konqueror for its seamlessness when using multiple protocols and a transferring to multiple systems.
